Sun, Skyline & Service: My Stay at Le Méridien Mina Seyahi

Booking & First Impressions

I booked my stay directly through the Marriott website for the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, choosing a Deluxe Skyline View King Room with Club Access. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade to a Deluxe Sea View King Room, a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the stay. I arrived at 2 a.m. after a long-haul flight from Bali, and despite the late hour, I was greeted promptly and warmly by the bellperson for free valet service and baggage service. Though they offered to take my bags, I opted to bring them up myself to get some rest right away.

The front desk associate was friendly and efficient, offering to arrange a full tour of the property in the morning so I could get to my room quickly and also shared with me a detailed map of the grounds — which was especially helpful given the hotel is part of a larger complex that includes The Westin and W Dubai Mina Seyahi. The lobby was spotless and polished, giving off a quiet elegance with beautiful marble and luxurious touches, though I did note the building’s exterior felt more traditional and older compared to Dubai’s newer glass-clad high-rises. Still, the welcome was top-notch and left a strong first impression.

Location & Accessibility

Le Méridien Mina Seyahi is nestled along the shores of Dubai’s iconic Jumeirah Beach, in the vibrant Dubai Marina district—one of the city’s most dynamic waterfront neighborhoods. The hotel’s location strikes a fantastic balance between resort-style seclusion and easy access to Dubai’s top attractions.

Getting around was incredibly convenient. The hotel is just a 5–10 minute ride from the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina Walk, and the bustling JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence) area, all of which offer great shopping, dining, and nightlife options, with well-known chain restaurants from North America, but also many great local options.

Taxis and ride-hailing apps like Careem and Uber are readily available and reasonably priced by Dubai standards, making it easy to explore the city. The Dubai Marina tram and metro station are both within a 3-5 minute walk, allowing access to hotspots like Burj Khalifa, Downtown Dubai, and the Dubai Mall in about 20–25 minutes. I personally had a rental vehicle and drove to the Burj Khalifa and airport, but I would recommend using transit options or ridesharing services as the traffic can become very busy during peak times, the highways have many lanes and would not be welcoming for those who are not confident driving in places they are not familiar with. Additionally, there are speed cameras and other types of traffic cameras everywhere – if you don’t follow the local driving laws, you may find yourself getting a very hefty bill from a rental company later.

The area around the hotel felt safe, clean, and high-end, with well-lit streets and easy access to pedestrian walkways. Although, I would not recommend walking around in the Dubai heat. Despite being in such a buzzing area, the hotel maintains a sense of calm and exclusivity—ideal for solo and other travelers looking for both adventure and relaxation.

The Room Rundown

My upgraded Deluxe Sea View King Room had a modern colonial elegance that felt both luxurious and comforting. The space was bright, airy, and impeccably clean, with tasteful wainscoting details, plush carpeting, and rich dark wood cabinetry in the entryway that added warmth and character. A thoughtful touch awaited on a side table — a cute welcome box filled with delicious chocolates, which made the late-night arrival feel even more special.

The king bed was incredibly comfortable, with just the right balance of support and plushness in both the mattress and pillows. Blackout curtains kept the room completely dark, which was a blessing after arriving from a long-haul flight. I was especially impressed that turndown service had already been prepared, creating a serene and restful atmosphere from the moment I walked in. Throughout my stay, the room remained peacefully quiet, and the twice-daily housekeeping, including turndown, was consistently flawless.

The TV had a mix of options from around the world to cater to every traveler and the WIFI was easy to access and fast, never encountering any issues during my stay.

One of the highlights was drawing the curtains open my first morning to reveal a stunning view of the Palm Jumeirah, and crystal-blue waters dotted with yachts — truly postcard-worthy. The balcony was spacious, complete with two chairs, perfect for morning coffee or evening reflection. While daytime noise from the nearby waterpark could creep in when outside on the balcony, the soundproof balcony windows and doors ensured I could retreat into complete tranquility whenever I wanted.

While the room was nicely appointed and clearly well maintained, some of the furniture was beginning to show minor signs of wear — nothing unexpected for a hotel of this age, but noticeable if you’re detail-oriented. Additionally, the glass-top counter/console beneath the TV was prone to showing fingerprints and smudges, which could be a slight annoyance for those who prefer ultra-tidy surfaces.

The bathroom featured both a separate bidet and a unique speaker system synced with the main TV — a surprisingly fun and practical detail. It also had a single sink with good lighting and a standard shower/tub combination with amazing water pressure and plush towels. Other in-room amenities included a Nespresso coffee and tea station, ample closet and storage space, multiple mirrors, and an impressively stocked supply of bottled water, which was replenished generously — four bottles per service, a thoughtful gesture in Dubai’s desert heat.

Thanks to efficient air conditioning, the room remained cool and refreshing — the perfect escape after time spent exploring in the sun. An absolute must in the Dubai heat.

Dining & Drinks

Dining was a highlight throughout my stay, particularly thanks to the Club Lounge located on the top floor. Each morning, I enjoyed a sumptuous spread of hot and cold breakfast options—everything from bacon, eggs, and waffles to fresh fruit, yogurts, cheeses, and a made-to-order omelet station. The lounge also featured a full coffee bar, fresh-pressed juices, and unique wellness shots. What stood out was the exceptional service: attentive staff, clean surroundings, and a welcoming atmosphere. I also used the lounge as a workspace in the afternoons before settling in for their generous happy hour, which offered complimentary drinks and a selection of delicious snacks—all while enjoying stunning views over the Palm and a marina. If you time it right, you can even watch skydivers descend near Dubai Skydive as you enjoy your breakfast.

On the restaurant front, the hotel’s six on-site venues—and the additional ten restaurants at the neighboring Westin—meant I never ran out of dining options. The highlights:

  • Bounty Beets: A bright, plant-forward café with Instagram-worthy décor. Known for its healthy, vegan-friendly menu and vibrant wellness lattes, it delivers fresh, flavorful dishes.
  • Barasti Beach Bar: A lively beach club by day and nightclub by night, offering live music, poolside service, sports broadcasts, and a relaxed, social vibe—pure Dubai energy.
  • Latitude 25: This sophisticated lounge transitions from a tranquil café by day (complete with free Wi-Fi and pastries) to a chic evening venue with mezze and cocktails—great for laid-back afternoons.
  • Bussola (at the Westin): A refined Italian restaurant that effortlessly blends a relaxed ambiance with elevated food and wine—a genuine slice of Italy in Dubai.

Whether I was indulging in a vegan lunch at Bounty Beets or sipping cocktails at Barasti wading through the pool, the quality of food and service remained consistently excellent. Yes, prices were on the higher side—but that’s Dubai, especially when most ingredients are imported. Each meal felt worth it for the quality, atmosphere, and attentive staff.

Pool, Beach, & Amenities

The Mina Seyahi complex offers a wide variety of ways to relax and recharge in the Dubai sun, but one of the standout features is its beautifully maintained pool and beach experience. I gravitated toward the adults-only Horizon Pool, tucked a little further from the family areas and waterpark. This space felt like a true oasis—peaceful and refined. The pool was temperature-controlled, and in the blazing Dubai heat, that cooling dip was more than welcome. Even during busier parts of the day, it remained serene during my stay in September.

The private beach was another favorite. The sand is soft but scorching underfoot—beach sandals are non-negotiable if you’re venturing toward the water! Once there, though, you’re rewarded with stunning views and cushy loungers, many with shade options. While the sea was quite warm and didn’t offer much of a cool-down, the beachside service was top-notch. Attendants frequently brought complimentary cold water and ice, and food and drink service made it easy to spend hours lounging in comfort.

While I didn’t personally visit the Jungle Bay Waterpark, it’s hard to miss if you’re walking the grounds. With slides, a tipping bucket, and splash zones, it’s clearly designed with families in mind—and every kid I saw looked like they were having the time of their life.

I also made time to check out the fitness centre, which was impressively well-stocked. Rows of cardio machines faced out toward the resort grounds, and there was no shortage of free weights or machines for a complete workout. The adjacent change rooms included a steam room and sauna, making it easy to unwind and reset post-exercise. For anyone who likes to stick to their fitness routine while traveling, this gym absolutely delivers.

Comfort & Queer-Friendly Factor

Comfort & Queer-Friendly Factor

As a solo and LGBTQ+ traveler, I felt completely welcome throughout my stay at Le Méridien Mina Seyahi. The staff were friendly, professional, and attentive from the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out. While there were no overt signs of LGBTQ+ inclusion—like pride flags or inclusive signage—this is expected given the cultural and legal context of the UAE.

That said, I never once felt unsafe or out of place. The hotel has an international, tourist-friendly vibe where guests from all walks of life seemed to be enjoying their stay freely. I saw people wearing everything from bikinis to speedos, sipping cocktails by the pool, and simply relaxing without issue. As long as you’re respectful of local customs and those around you, the environment feels very comfortable.

The concierge team stood out for their knowledge and attentiveness. They were more than happy to suggest things to see and do around Dubai, offer tips for navigating cultural norms, and help ensure I made the most of my visit. While it may not be explicitly queer-affirming in the Western sense, the stay was absolutely solo-traveler-friendly and felt both safe and enjoyable.

Was It Worth the Price Tag?

My stay came in at just under $230 CAD per night, all taxes and fees included. That rate gave me access to the club lounge with complimentary breakfast, the lively Barasti Beach Club, the onsite waterpark, a full fitness centre, and dining across the entire Mina Seyahi complex, including both the Le Méridien and Westin properties.

Considering the quality of service, spacious and well-maintained room, wide range of amenities, and the prime location, I’d say this was an exceptional value. It felt like a luxurious experience without the usual price tag you’d expect in a city like Dubai. For travelers looking to balance comfort, convenience, and cost—especially with lounge access—this stay absolutely delivered!

I also was able to earn Marriott Bonvoy points on my stay, which is always a bonus when getting to stay at Marriott properties! Being a Gold Elite member, I also received a 25% bonus, and by using my American Express Marriott Bonvoy card, I earned an additional 5 points/dollar charged tot he card to use for future stays! If you usually stay at Marriott properties, I highly suggest you check out the Marriott Bonvoy Amex card, which as of writing has a welcome bonus offer of up to 110,000 Bonvoy Points! (Full Disclosure: The link below is a referral link that may provide me a referral bonus upon meeting the terms and conditions of the welcome offer.)

Final Thoughts: Who This Hotel Is For

This hotel is perfect for:

  • Solo travelers who love a touch of luxury without losing sight of comfort and value.
  • Relaxation seekers who appreciate thoughtful design, modern amenities, and top-tier service.
  • Families that appreciate access to kid-friendly amenities, but still an upscale experience.
  • Queer adventurers looking for a safe, respectful, and welcoming space while exploring Dubai.

While the property may not display overt signs of LGBTQ+ inclusivity—understandable given the region—it still provided a warm, respectful, and safe environment throughout my stay.

I’d absolutely stay again and would recommend it to friends, especially those looking for an elevated Dubai experience that doesn’t feel stuffy or inaccessible. Le Méridien Mina Seyahi offers a memorable balance of beachside leisure, excellent dining, and five-star service.
